Eskdalegate Farm Caravan Site

Located just 4 miles from Whitby, Eskdalegate Farm is a small but perectly formed caravan site with breath-taking views across the Esk Valley.

Good News: The Sleights Pub (The Plough) is Now Open Again!

It's the perfect site for nature lovers and bird watchers, with plenty of wildlife to observe in the surrounding countryside. Walkers and cyclists will also find it a fantastic location with lots of footpaths, country lanes and trails to explore nearby.

Hard-Standing Pitches with Electricity and Water

All our pitches are hard-standing, providing a solid base for caravans and motorhoms. Because of this we're able to open all year round. Most of our pitches are also topped with grass. Electric charging points are also available on every pitch, which include electric vehicle charging capacity. Each pitch has its own water supply.

Arrival & Departure

Guest are welcome to arrive from 2pm. Departure is by 11am.

Waste Disposal

We have a driver-over motorhome waste disposal point as well as a seperate disposal point for grey and black water. Please use green liquid only in your loos.

Easy Access to Whitby and the Yorkshire Coast

Whitby's just a short drive away. There's also a regular bus service from Sleights, with a bus stop just a short distance away from the farm. There's a broad range of restaurants, pubs, cafes and take-aways in the local area as well as loads of fantastic attractions. These include the North York Moors Steam Railway, Dalby Forest, the North York Moors National Park, Whitby Abbey and the beautiful villages and market towns of North Yorkshire.

The Yorkshire coast's villages are within easy reach, providing plenty of options for days out exploring this beautiful area of the country. Many local beaches have won awards in recent years, including Runswick Bay which was named a Britain's Best Beach in 2020!

Eskdalegate Farm

The Eskdalegate Farm CL site is on a working farm on the edge of the North Yorkshire National Park. The location features panoramic views across the Esk Valley. Relax and watch the steam trains pass along the bottom of the valley alongside the River Esk.

There are lots of local walks including a fabulous walk to Falling Foss where you can rest up at a delightful café. For a short walk through my farm you can visit the site of the Legendary “Penny Hedge” hermitage.

Whitby and the Yorkshire coast is only 4 miles away. There's a regular bus service from Sleights, and a Park & Ride service on the outskirts of town too.

Sleights is only a short walk away. As well as Botham’s bakery, Radford’s butchers and the local shop there are also two pubs. One is at each end of the village, the Plough being only a 5 minutes walk away from Eskdalegate Farm.

There are lots of activities available locally including Dalby Forest’s “Go Ape” for the more adventurous! The North York Moors railway stations at Grosmont and Goathland are well worth a visit. Goathland may be better know to you as “Aidensfield” having featured in ITV's Heartbeat. Ruswarp is close by and has boating on the river, a café, a pub, and its own miniature railway.

Cycle the Cinder Track which runs along the old railway track from Whitby to Scarborough. It passes over the Whitby viaduct, which offers amazing views. If you don’t want to go as far as Scarborough there is a nice café along the route just off the track at Hawsker. A little further along (5 miles from Whitby) brings you to Robin Hood’s Bay.

For day trips afield why not visit the local coastal villages of Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay. Further afield is Middlesbrough. Why not take the train? This line is one of the most scenic in the country and is definitely one of Network Rails hidden treasures. Pickering, Helmsley, Malton, York and Scarborough are all worth a visit.

There are regular buses into Whitby from the end of the road. The “Coastliner” service has been voted the most picturesque bus route in the country. It travels from Whitby through Goathland, Pickering, Kirby Misperton (Flamingo Land Theme Park), Malton and York. Also you can hail the local bus from the farm gate. This service will take you to either into Whitby or the other way, to all the local villages along the Esk Valley.
